Children & Teen Services
Outpatient Therapy
CHNK Behavioral Health offers both individual and family therapy for children and teens grappling with mental illness, addiction, or behaviors that negatively impact their daily lives at home, in the school setting, and within the community.
Medication Management
CHNK’s board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and brief supportive therapy for patients aged 6 and older.
As a registered GeneSight provider, our Nurse Practitioner also offers pharmacogenomics testing and review of the results; this testing studies how a person’s individual genes affect the body’s response to certain medicines. Practice specialties include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and mood disorders.
Targeted Case Management
CHNK offers Targeted Case Management (TCM) as part of our robust continuum of care for individuals and families in need of mental health and addiction services. Many times, a client receiving therapeutic care from CHNK might also benefit from access to social, educational, or medical services. A targeted case manager helps connect the client (and their family) to these services by working with the client and their therapist to develop an individualized care plan. The case manager also monitors progress and collaborates with other community providers to help each client achieve their personalized care plan goals.
Day Treatment
In partnership with select Northern Kentucky school districts, CHNK offers comprehensive therapeutic and academic care for high risk elementary, middle school, & high school age youth, providing an environment in which students can better manage anxiety, emotions, problematic behavior, and mental illness while still engaging in learning.
Intensive Outpatient Program
CHNK Behavioral Health offers multiple Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) that follow a structured, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach to therapeutic care for children, adolescents, and adults who need help recognizing, managing, and overcoming mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Partial Hospitalization Program
The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at CHNK Behavioral Health uses a trauma-informed, multidisciplinary approach to address and treat significant primary mental health diagnoses – including depression, anxiety, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, and others. The goal of the Partial Hospitalization Program is to provide a service that can be a safe step down from hospitalization. This program can be used to treat clients who do not meet criteria for inpatient admission to potentially avoid worsening symptoms requiring hospitalization or residential treatment.
Family Preservation Program
The Family Preservation Program (FPP) helps to strengthen families and keep children safely at home to prevent out of home placement. FPP is a collaboration between CHNK and the Kentucky Department for Community-Based Services (DCBS), so all referrals into the program are made by DCBS after confirming that a family meets all eligibility requirements.
Psychiatric Residential Treatment
CHNK Behavioral Health is licensed as a 24/7 psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF); we are currently the only behavioral healthcare organization licensed as a PRTF in the Northern Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Psychiatric residential care is one step below acute hospitalization and provides intensive treatment around issues like aggression, sexualized behaviors, trauma, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, anxiety, and depression.
