Intensive Outpatient Program
CHNK Behavioral Health offers multiple Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) that follow a structured, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach to therapeutic care for individuals who need help recognizing, managing, and overcoming mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Program Overview
When to consider day IOP
Intensive Outpatient Programming may be right for individuals who require more regular therapy than weekly sessions. Clients with pervasive mental health and/or substance use issues, clients experiencing crises or those stepping down from a higher level of treatment may benefit from IOP.
What to expect
IOP Programs provide extra resources and support for patients who need more advanced/regular therapy than weekly sessions. An IOP offers several group sessions each week that focus on building support by hearing and learning from other group members’ experiences, improving treatment outcomes through use of evidence-based practices, and increasing access to ancillary services like medication management and targeted case management.
Who is eligible?
Typical presenting issues of clients participating in IOP include depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or substance use.
Who will be working with me?
Our team is comprised of licensed professional counselors (LPCA, LPCC) and clinical social workers (CSW, LCSW). Some patients may also benefit from medication management provided by our in-house Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or from assistance that can be provided by one of our targeted case managers.
Where does treatment take place?
Intensive Outpatient Programming takes place at our Outpatient Office.
How long is treatment?
The length of treatment varies by client and their specific needs/progress.

CHNK’s Adult IOP is a five-day, 4–6-week, program for clients who want to “build a life worth living.” Rooted in a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy framework, clients process emotions and behaviors with peers and licensed clinicians in a small group setting. The program runs 9am-12pm Monday through Friday. Group engages clients through DBT skills training, processing, recreational music making, mindfulness, psychological education, and optional medication management. Clients work with their treatment team on individualized treatment goals and towards the reduction of mental health symptomology. As a result, we have seen consistent reduction in mental health concerns through the duration of the program, all with a sense of fun and community.
IOP treatment is just one step on an easier path to mental health.
At CHNK Behavioral Health, we are committed to creating an easier path to mental health by offering a wide array of treatment options. All services begin with the completion of a Comprehensive Assessment, where a Licensed Professional will work collaboratively with you to identify treatment service(s) that are tailored to the specific needs of you or your child/family.
